For health benefits and preventative measure, Liezel gets some extra stuff in her bowl.  Here are some of the things we give her.

Apple Cinder Vinegar (with the ‘mother’): acts as a natural antibiotic, improves digestion, and helps repel fleas and ticks.  I pour about a tablespoon on her food a couple times / week.

Coconut Oil: among a whole host of other health benefits, coconut oil contains antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal agents that prevent infection and disease. She gets a tablespoon in her bowl a few times / month.

Diatomaceous Earth (food-grade): among many health benefits, DE is said to kill internal parasites.  DE can also be used topically as flea prevention.  I sprinkle a teaspoon or so on her food once / week.

Oil of Oregano: contains antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal agents.  For the past three months she has gotten four drops twice / day.

Pumpkin Seeds (ground): effective deworming agent against tapeworms and other intestinal parasites.  She used to get it daily, but now I sprinkle a tablespoon or so on her food a few times / month.

Apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, coconut oil for cooking and baking, diatomaceous earth in a smoothie, and pumpkin seeds as a snack, aside from the oil of oregano, we have ingested all of these ourselves.  We’re all pretty healthy over here.
